From June 8 to 12, 2026, the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol (PH Tirol) hosted its International Staff Week under the theme “Sustainability in Education.” The week brought together faculty and staff from three continents—Europe, Asia, and Africa—for a program focused on sustainable teacher education and intercultural exchange.

From November 17 to 21, 2025, the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol hosted its International Week, bringing together educators and experts from Europe and Asia. Under the theme “Thinking Outside the Box: Creativity in Teaching,” the program highlighted innovative, creative, and intercultural approaches in teacher education.

Lecturers from countries including Portugal, Lithuania, Finland, Belgium, Norway, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Hungary shared insights on creativity, neurodiversity, intercultural competence, entrepreneurship education, and innovative teaching and learning methods. Faculty members from the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol actively contributed through lectures and hands-on workshops.

Cultural and social activities such as a city tour, school visits, the Intercultural Brunch, a collaborative cooking session featuring Austrian specialties, and a visit to the Swarovski Crystal Worlds fostered informal exchange and intercultural dialogue.

The International Week at the PHT once again proved to be a dynamic platform for creative thinking, international collaboration, and professional exchange in teacher education. From May 12 to 16, 2025, the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol hosted its second International Week of the academic year—a biannual event that brings together educators and experts from Europe, Asia, and beyond. The May edition focused on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in teacher education, offering a dynamic mix of academic insight, cultural exchange, and professional networking.

Lecturers from countries including France, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Malta, Norway, and Thailand explored the opportunities and ethical challenges of AI in education. Highlights included practical sessions on using generative AI in lesson planning, innovative assessment strategies, and discussions on integrating mindfulness and neuroscience into digital classrooms. Faculty members from the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol made valuable contributions to the program.

Cultural and social events—such as the Intercultural Brunch, collaborative cooking, and a folk evening—created a welcoming space for informal dialogue and intercultural connection. A standout artistic contribution from Thailand linked creativity with lifelong learning.

International Week at the PHT once again proved to be a dynamic platform for global perspectives, critical reflection, and forward-looking approaches to teacher education. As part of International Week in November, the University of Teacher Education Tyrol was once again able to welcome international guest lecturers from various European countries. This semester, ten lecturers from Poland, Germany, Latvia, Belgium, Portugal, and Norway took part, enriching the program with their expertise and diverse perspectives and inspiring the university’s academic community. The program of events included a variety of engaging and informative lectures on current topics in pedagogy and education. Key topics included “The Digital Kindergarten,” “Social Exclusion of Young People,” “The Multilingual Classroom,” “Internationalization of Teacher Training,” “Evaluation in Educational Contexts,” and “Promoting Critical Thinking”. These events provided valuable insights for teaching practice and fostered professional exchange. Lecturers from the PHT also shared their expertise, thereby contributing to the diversity and quality of the program. In addition to knowledge transfer, International Week focused in particular on networking and exchange between the partner universities. The informal and friendly atmosphere fostered cooperation and dialogue not only during the lectures but also during other program activities. The “Intercultural Brunch,” which traditionally takes place during International Week, was also a popular event this year, contributing to greater cultural understanding and more in-depth exchange. A visit to the affiliated elementary and middle schools provided a deeper understanding of the Austrian education system. The international guests gained valuable insights into teaching practices and the school philosophy in Austria. The supporting program also offered the opportunity to explore the city of Innsbruck in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. A city tour of Innsbruck and shared meals created opportunities for informal dialogue and strengthened the group dynamic. A cultural highlight was a visit to the musical “Hair,” which not only provided entertainment but also contributed to the participants’ cultural development. Thanks to the positive group dynamics and dedicated exchange, International Week was a complete success. New partnerships were forged, and existing contacts with European universities were strengthened. The event provided both the guest lecturers and the PHT with a valuable opportunity for international collaboration and knowledge transfer.
